It is amazing the types and styles of Christmas and elf hats that we have in stock and that people are buying.

I would like to share with you the fact that we now stock unicorn costumes for children to complement our extensive range of costumes for children and adults ranging from zombies to fairies.

Now, following on the vein of the last blog regarding mince pies I though this time that I would like to mention, Christmas trees.

We think that Christmas Trees are a comparatively new thing, but no, they go way back.  People used to decorate their houses with greenery  and then it evolved into a small fir tree, and then, what we have now.

When a Christmas tree was first decorated, items used would be paper flowers, fruit and in some circumstances sweet meats, these were subsequently replaced by the bauble and other decorations as used to-day.

Thankfully candles are not used to-day to adorn the tree as they would have been as It is reported that a lady’s dress caught fire whilst she was lighting the candles on the tree, unfortunately the  lady subsequently died.

Queen Victoria was familiar with the Christmas tree, it is reported that each year a Christmas tree would have been placed in her room.  Following her marriage to her cousin Albert, the Christmas tree became more popular firstly by nobility and later as is evident to-day, by everyone.
